OVERVIEW
The disappointing 2005 season saw engine partner BMW, and principal sponsor HP leave the team, but Williams need not fear, for Cosworth have supplied them with a fantastic V8 engine.
Nick Heidfeld has moved on with BMW to Sauber, while Mark Webber stays on board for a second year, joined by Nico Rosberg, son of 1982 champ Keke.
The 2006 car has looked good in testing, if just a little inconsistent, and therefore makes a judgment on their 2006 prospects difficult.
The team of the 1990's Williams have claimed nine constructors titles, and 7 drivers championships since the teams' creation in 1978, with the most recent titles in 1997.
The team has never quite recovered from the loss of Renault engines in 1997, and the BMW relationship only provided 10 wins from 2000-2005.
However hopes for 2006 will be high-no-one knows how to build a V8 better than Cosworth, and so wins and podiums will be expected.
