OVERVIEW
After six largely un-fruitful years with Williams, BMW announced their intentions to leave the Grove squad at the end of 2005, and immediately formed a partnership with the Sauber Team.
Still based in Hinwil, 2006 represents a fresh start for both Sauber and BMW. The team has been renamed BMW Sauber, and has secured the services of Nick Heidfeld, who drove for Williams last year, while Jacques Villeneuve won his fight to remain at the team.
While wins are not fully expected in the squads first year, they will at least hope to improve upon the disappointing showing of 2005, in which Sauber were only able to score a handful of points.
Winter testing has shown the car to be quick, but not breathtaking, but regular points and the odd podium aren't off the cards quite yet.
Expect a steady, if unspectacular season from the team. 2007 will promise a lot more.
