They say in life, you learn by your mistakes, but
apparently Giancarlo Fisichella does not, as for the second time in three years
he messed up on the grid at Sepang. Once again, Fisichella seemed to be in the wrong position on the grid. Jacques Villeneuve was due to start in front of him, but failed to get away at the start of the parade lap. Fisichella obviously confused, took up Villeneuve's slot on the grid proper, realised he was in the wrong position, and had to reverse and attempt a bit of turning while the other drivers waited. This time the start was not aborted, but when the lights went out, Fisichella's car failed to get away. "Giancarlo made a bit of a mistake at the start when he got in the wrong grid slot and had to do a bit of manoeuvring. After that the clutch got too hot and the launch control wouldn't work correctly." said director of race and test engineering Gary Anderson "I had a problem with launch control. We don't know what was wrong as we are still investigating. I have to look ahead to the next race." said the embarrassed Italian, not wishing to comment on his second blunder in three years. |
